CHIEF-PD study wins Lead Network Study of the Year 2023!

The CHIEF-PD (CHolinesterase Inhibitor to prEvent Falls in Parkinson’s Disease) study recently won Lead Network Study of the Year 2023 at the NIHR CRN research awards. Chief Investigator, Associate Professor Emily Henderson, and members of the team attended the awards event at Guildhall in Bath to celebrate the achievements of all nominees.

​​​​​​​CHIEF-PD is a research trial examining whether drugs normally used to treat people with memory problems can be used to reduce the number of falls that people with Parkinson’s experience.

Across 39 NHS hospital sites in the UK, CHIEF-PD has enrolled 600 people with Parkinson’s who had experienced a fall in the previous year. This makes CHIEF-PD the largest trial of a novel drug treatment in Parkinson’s ever conducted in the UK.
